Writing the Business Case – Food Delivery Service Case Study

Background

GlobalCorp is an international company that sells consumer goods. GlobalCorp products include: hair care products, lotions, beauty products, bath products and other personal hygiene products.

GlobalCorp executives are looking to expand into new markets to grow their business and increase profits for their shareholders.

One such market that they are looking to enter in is the food delivery service market. They are looking at taking a piece of the market share from DoorDash and Uber Eats and start providing a service to deliver food from restaurants, grocery stores and pharmacies.  The executives need some analysis done to help them make  a determination of whether or not this is a good decision.



The Expectation

You are hired  as a business analyst at GlobalCorp and the first assignment is to do a business case to help the executives decide if going into the food delivery market is feasible.

Create a presentation for the executives in which you present your finding and make recommendation on whether they should go ahead with this initiative or not.

Research considerations:

  • Outline the problem this service would solve
  • What’s the size of the food delivery market?
  • What’s the demographic of users of food delivery services?
  • Who are the competitors  and how are they doing? ( are they profitable?)
  • What strategies are the competitors using?
  • What is the food delivery market trend?  Is it anticipated to grow? is it saturated etc…?
  • Should GlobalCorp consider international food delivery service or local?
  • What challenges are competitors and users of food delivery services facing?
  • What big picture strategy do you have on how  GlobalCorp could avoid the same challenges other competitors have ? (not too specific – this should be at a very broad level)
  • What big picture strategies could you suggest for making a difference in the market? (not too specific)
  • What are the benefits to GlobalCorp if they enter this market?
  • What are the risks?
  • What is your recommendation to the executives?
